Jo Patti Munisteri (Joanne) is an independent field researcher, analyst, and educator who has worked as a contractor for the US Department of State, IREX, USAID, and the US DOD. She completed training at Ft. Leavenworth as part of the Human Terrain System and worked with various agencies, organizations, and universities in Iraq (2020, 2018, 2017) China (2018-2019) Afghanistan (2014-2017) Ukraine (2015) Malaysia (2013-2014) Saudi Arabia (2013) Russia (2011-2012) Pakistan (2010-2011) Armenia (2008-2010) Ascension Island (2008) UAE (2007-2008) New Zealand, Australia and a number of other countries.

Jo’s family moved to Houston, Texas in 1964. She graduated from Memorial Sr. High school before going to Washington, D.C. where she earned a Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. She did her graduate work in education at Massey University in New Zealand and gained her Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) from New Zealand School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a mother, an avid hiker, swimmer, flautist, and a published poet and technical writer.
