S2 06.0 Using Mindfulness in the Classroom with Ramin Yazdanpanah **Guided Meditation Included**

Ramin Yazdanpanah is a multifaceted and talented educator and founder of Full Circle Language Learning and Teaching Services. He is also a musician and active practitioner of mindfulness techniques. In this episode, he shares with us how to use breathwork and meditation to prepare our English Language Learners for meaningful engagement in our classrooms. Included is a full guided relaxation that asks us to connect and check-in with ourselves. It is finished off with a reflection related to our multiple identities of ancestral self, character/authentic self, and professional self with specific suggestions for connecting this practice to listening, speaking, and writing skills.

Dr. Ramin Yazdanpanah works as the Director of FULL CIRCLE Language Learning, LLC. He holds a doctorate from Florida State University for his research on developing intercultural competence within English language teacher programs through focused intercultural exchanges with English language learners. He has over twenty years of experience as an English language teacher, and over a decade of experience as a teacher educator. Dr. Yazdanpanah served as the TEFL-Certificate Program Director at the Center for Intensive Studies at Florida State University. He recently completed a Fellowship with the U.S. State Department in Vietnam, where he taught and developed courses and curriculum at Thai Nguyen University and facilitated workshops throughout the country. He continues to serve as a consultant to the U.S. State Department’s English Language Programs, as well with the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University, and TESOL International Association. Dr. Yazdanpanah has delivered numerous presentations and workshops on English language teaching and research, and served as the Chair for the TESOL-Intercultural Interest Section (ICIS). In addition to his academic work, he also facilitates intercultural education through music performances and workshops in the United States and internationally. Dr. Ramin Yazdanpanah brings his experience and expertise to English language teaching, teacher education, intercultural competence and communication education, and TESOL program development.
